📚 Book Summary:
I received several emails last week from people saying they loved the short book recommendations (link here if you missed it).
So...here are 5 MORE short books that can change your life. Enjoy!
📖
1) "The War of Art" by Steven Pressfield
This is a must-read book for anyone who does creative work (writer, artist, content creator, etc,) or who needs that nudge to take the leap of faith and pursue their dreams.
In the book, Pressfield talks about an internal force called 'Resistance' which stops us from achieving our goals. Resistance comes in many forms (fear of failure, fear of success, procrastination, avoidance, etc.), but fortunately, Pressfield shares practical advice on how to overcome Resistance and follow your true calling.
Highly recommend reading.
📖
2) "Tribes" by Seth Godin
Last week I talked about Seth's book "The Dip", but here's another awesome, short book from him.
This one is more in the leadership genre and shares advice on how to get people to follow or believe in you. If you need to rally employees, customers, investors, or readers around an idea, this book will demystify the process.
It's especially valuable for content creators or founders who want to build an audience on social media.
📖
3) "The Emperor's Handbook" by Marcus Aurelius
This was my first introduction to Stoicism and Marcus Aurelius and this book quite literally changed my life.
If you haven't heard of Marcus Aurelius, he ruled the Roman Empire at its height and is referred to as the last of the five good emperors. This book was his personal journal in which he wrote lessons to himself on how to stay humble, find happiness, and live a good life.
It's similar to "Meditations" but with a new translation that makes it easier to read than the original text. If you want to dive into Stoicism, this is an excellent book for you.
📖
4) "The Compound Effect" by Darren Hardy
This book will show you how small daily actions (like habits) can completely change the trajectory of your life.
It will encourage you to examine how you spend your average day and reflect on whether your actions are compounding in a positive or negative direction.
If you enjoyed "Atomic Habits", chances are you'll love this book.
📖
5) "As A Man Thinketh" by James Allen
This is a classic self-help book that explores the power of positive thinking (similar to "The Strangest Secret").
Published in 1903, this is one of the original self-help books. In it, Allen argues that the key to mastering your life is to harness the power of your thoughts and cultivate a positive attitude.
If you're looking for a super short read (it's less than 50 pages) that will help you develop a more positive mindset, read this book.
