      📚 Book Lessons:

This week's book is The Daily Stoic by Ryan Holiday. This book contains 366 pages of ancient stoic wisdom. It's meant to be read 1 page per day which makes it easy to read and helpful if you're trying to build a reading habit. I highly recommend this book. Here are three lessons from it:1) Be Willing To Learn From Anyone At Anytime"Zeno would say that nothing is more hostile to a firm grasp on knowledge than self-deception." -DiogenesA core principle of Stoic philosophy is to always be willing to learn from anyone. At any given time, people are either teaching you what TO DO or what NOT TO DO. Both are equally valuable. However, to remain a student of life, you must not let your ego get in your way. As Epictetus put it, "It is impossible for a person to begin to learn what he thinks he already knows." Stay humble and hungry.

      2) Understand That Nobody Thinks They're Wrong"Whenever someone has done wrong by you, immediately consider what notion of good or evil they had in doing it. For when you see that, you'll feel compassion, instead of rage." -Marcus AureliusSocrates, perhaps the wise person to ever live, used to say that "nobody does wrong willingly." Meaning that no one thinks they're wrong or what they're doing is wrong–even if it is.Your parents who told you to get a traditional job instead of starting a business weren't in the wrong, they just viewed a corporate job as safer. The investor who passed on you wasn't in the wrong, he just saw the investment opportunity differently. The boss who didn't hire you wasn't in the wrong, she just didn't think you were a fit for the position.Maybe they were in the wrong or maybe they weren't. Either way, they had their reasons. Don't take it personally. Even if they were wrong, understand that we're all humans who make mistakes. Realizing this will make you much more compassionate and tolerant of others.

      3) Do This To Attain Wealth Now

"Freedom isn't secured by filling up on your heart's desire but by removing your desire." -EpictetusThere are two ways to be wealthy–to get everything you want or to want everything you have. Ask yourself, which is easier right here and now?If you release your desire for more, you'll become instantly wealthy–not in the material sense, but in a different manner that will still bring you joy. You might say you don't have enough to let go of your hunger for more, but ask yourself, when will enough be enough? The problem is that there's always more. People who make $50,000 a year say they'll be happy at $150,000. But those people say they'll be happy at $300,000. And those people say they'll be fulfilled at $1 million. And so on.You will never have it all. But you can have enough. The choice is yours.

        Actionable Advice:

        1) Learn from anyone and everyone:

        • Every person can teach you one of two lessons–what to do or what not to do.

        • Stay humble and keep learning.

        2) Realize that people don't think they're wrong, even if they are:

        • Understand that a person who's wrong doesn't think they are.

        • Maybe they are or maybe they aren't.

        • Either way, realizing this will make you more tolerant of others.

        3) Avoid craving more and more money:

        • If you're always craving more, you'll never be truly happy.

        • Know when enough is enough.
