📚 Book Lessons:
This week's book is Beyond Mars and Venus by Dr. John Gray.John Gray is known for writing the classic dating book Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus. His latest book dives into how relationship dynamics have changed over the past 25 years and what type of love the modern man and woman look for today. Here are 3 lessons from it:1) Listen To Your Lady Without Looking For A SolutionWhen a woman is stressed out or overwhelmed, most men will try to improve her mood by offering solutions. But that isn't helpful at that moment. Instead, what he should do is listen to her talk about her feelings. Why? A woman first needs to feel understood as well as understand her own feelings better before taking any action. She wants to know that you understand what she's going through and are paying attention to her situation–what she doesn't want, at that moment, is advice that she hasn't asked for. Talking through her feelings and problems, without looking for solutions, is a kind of therapy for women and helps them come back to their female side. Only once a woman feels she has been heard, should you ask if she wants help or offer a solution. 2) Show Your Lady You're Interested In Her Now that you know women oftentimes just want their man to listen to them and not provide solutions at that very moment, the next question is: how can men become better listeners? The answer is simple: when a woman is talking, support her by showing more interest. Here are 3 easy messages you can use: "Tell me more about that." "What else?" "Help me understand that better."Using these phrases will show a woman you're interested in her and thus, she will feel more supported and enter a more positive mood.3) To Change Your Partner, Turn Your Complaints Into RequestsRelationships are great in the beginning because we accept our partners just the way they are. But over time, we try to fix, correct, and change our partner. The most common strategy for changing our partner is through complaining–however, it's also one of the least effective strategies.A better strategy is to turn those complaints into requests. With a request, you can convey your message in a much more positive way. Here are a few examples:Complaint: You keep forgetting to take out the trash.Request: Would you remember to take out the trash tomorrow sweetie? Complaint: You left your clothes on the floor in the bedroom again.Request: Would you remember to pick up your clothes in the bedroom?See how requests come across as softer and nicer? The next time you have an urge to complain to your partner, turn it into a request and see how they respond.
✅ Actionable Advice:
1) Listen to your lady without offering a solution:
