Alex & Books #48

Hey friends,

Last week I visited Key West, Florida. I got to go parasailing and jet-skiing for the first time and I must say it was an incredibly fun experience.

I also got to visit Ernest Hemingway's home (which is now a museum). If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend it. The ticket was $17 but it comes with a free tour. You'll learn interesting facts about Hemingway's life and get to see his writing room where he wrote 70% of his work.

Alright, let's dive into this week's newsletter.

    📚 Book Lessons:

This week's book is Quotations from Ernest Hemingway by Ernest Hemingway.I picked up this book from the Hemingway museum gift shop. It's a collection of quotes from Hemingway about writing, life, and more. If you're a fan of quote books or Hemingway, you'll enjoy this book. Here are three of my favorite quotes from it:1) "If you stop complaining and asking for what you never will get, you will have a good life." –Ernest Hemingway2) "I hate to kill a day when I could live it." –Ernest Hemingway3)  "You can write any time people will leave you alone and not interrupt you. Or rather you can if you will be ruthless enough about it." –Ernest Hemingway PS: If you want more quotes from Hemingway, check out this post.

      ✅ Actionable Advice:

      1) Stop complaining.

      • No one likes to listen to someone complaining and it won't improve your life. Likewise, stop asking for things, work for them instead.

      2) Make the most out of life.

      • Time is your most precious asset, you should never be trying to "kill time." Instead, find something you enjoy doing or use that time to plan for a better future.

      3) If you want to write, find a quiet space.

      • Hemingway would go to his writing room and write from 6AM till noon every single day and didn't let anyone disturb him. If anyone wanted to see him, they would have to wait until he was done writing for the day.
