7 Tips to build a reading habit, LIT Videobooks giveaway, and more.
๐ Support:
This week's newsletter was made possible by Ship30for30.
This is the best writing course I've ever taken (and I've taken a few of them). It will teach you how to start writing online, create better content, and build an audience all in one course.

๐ Book Summary:
Instead of a book summary this week, I'll share an in-depth reading tip. Why?
It's estimated that as many as 80% of people fail to keep their New Year's resolutions by February so if you set a goal to read more books this year I want to help.
Here are 7 tips to help you read more:
๐
1) Give Yourself Permission To Read Anything
You don't have to read classic or bestselling books. You're free to read anything and everything.
Follow your genuine interests and curiosity. As Naval Ravikant wisely said, "Read what you love until you love to read."
2) Design An Optimal Reading Environment
Don't rely on willpower to keep you focused.
Leave your phone, laptop, and other distracting devices in another room.
It's much easier to avoid distractions when there aren't any than to try to power through ones that pop up.
3) Read 2-3 Books At A Time
When you have a lot of time & energy, read a more serious book. When you're short on time or low on energy, read something more light.
It's important to have multiple books to choose from, this way you can match your mood to a book that suits it (more about that here).
4) Experiment With Different Book Mediums
If you love holding a book in your hands, read print books.
If you like having a hundred books in your pocket, read ebooks.
If you're an auditory learner, listen to audiobooks.
Try all three and see what works best for you.
5) Start A Reading Streak
Grab a calendar & mark a big X on every day that you read.
You'll get a dopamine hit every time you read & you'll be able to track your progress.
Don't worry if you miss a day, none of us are perfect and it will happen. The key is to never miss twice.
6) Set A Daily Reading Meeting
When you have an important event in your day, you don't hope you'll find time for it, you MAKE time for it.
Do the same thing for reading.
Add reading to your calendar, set a reminder, and don't let other activities interrupt your reading meeting.
7) Find A Reading Buddy
One of my favorite ways to read is to go to the park or beach with my girlfriend and read our books there. Or when it's cold out, we'll read at home for 15-30 minutes and then talk about our books afterward.
If you have a family, consider having a family reading session where everyone gets together and reads in the living room.
Reading doesn't have to be a solo activity, make it social and you'll find reading to be a lot more fun!
