📚 Book Summaries:

After working on my book for the past 18 months, I submitted the manuscript to my editor this month.

During this time, I’ve also been reading and rereading a lot of books about writing and wanted to share a few of my favorite ones with you.

Enjoy!

PS: I’m looking for 50 people to be beta-readers and give me feedback on my book. If you want to read an early copy of my book and share your thoughts, please fill out this form here.

📖

1) “Good Writing” by Neal Allen and Anne Lamott

This is a short book (about 200 pages) with 36 tips on how to become a better writer. It’s written by the famous writer Anne Lamott and her husband.

Whether you’re writing emails, blog posts, speeches, books, or something else, knowing how to write well is a valuable skill that will serve you for the rest of your life.

If you enjoyed “Bird by Bird” or “The Elements of Style”, you’ll like this book.

📖

2) "Write a Must-Read" by Anjanette “AJ” Harper

This is a fantastic book for anyone looking to write a bestselling non-fiction book. It’s written by a ghostwriter who’s helped write over a dozen bestselling books.

I love how practical and actionable this book is. Most writing books inspire you to write but then leave you hanging–this book is the opposite. Harper shares clear steps and strategies that anyone can use to write a great non-fiction book.

If you want to write a book that people will actually read and recommend, you need to read this book.

📖

3) “Write Useful Books” by Rob Fitzpatrick

At 142 pages, this is one of the most value-per-page books I’ve ever read. It’s incredibly actionable and has zero fluff.

One of the biggest takeaways from it is the importance of beta-readers and iteration. You want to treat your writing as a product: get feedback from people early on and revise your writing before it’s published, not after.

You’ll also learn how to pick the right title, cover, and lots more. If you’re a non-fiction writer, this book is worth reading and rereading.
