📚 Book Summary:

Instead of one book summary this week, here are 3 recent books I enjoyed:

📖

1) “Scan Artist” by Marcia Biederman

This is a very niche but fascinating book. It’s about Evelyn Wood, one of the most famous speed-reading coaches in the world. Her company taught over 1 million people how to speed read.

Except she fudged the test results, refused to let scientists measure students' accuracy, and her company eventually filed for bankruptcy. Speed-reading has been a scam from the start, and now we have the science and data to prove it doesn’t work.

📖

2) “Learn Like A Pro” by Barbara Oakley & Olav Schewe

This book is a crash course on how to improve your ability to learn. Basically, you’ll learn how to learn better.

It’s under 150 pages, so it’s a short read, yet packed with practical tips and tactics. You’ll learn how to beat procrastination, remember more of what you read, score higher on tests, and much more. It’s an especially useful book for students.

📖

3) “Buy Yourself the F*cking Lilies” by Tara Schuster

By the time she was in her late twenties, Tara Schuster was a rising TV executive. But although she was “good” at work, she was “bad” at life. She was a chronically anxious and a self-medicating mess.

In this humorous book, she shares several simple, daily habits that helped her overcome negative self-criticism, heal emotional wounds, create a life she truly loved, and help you do the same.
