🙏 Support:
This week's newsletter was made possible by Write of Passage.
Write of Passage was the first writing course I ever took and it completely changed my life.
It’s a 5-week live course that will teach you how to become a better writer, build an audience online, and you’ll meet a ton of awesome people along the way.
👋 Hey everyone,
Here are a few popular posts you may have missed:
PS: I’m hosting a reading event in NYC and also a virtual reading event this week. Come read and meet interesting people.
📚 Book Summary:
Instead of just one book summary like last week’s email, I’m trying something new.
I’ll pick a topic and share the 3 best books I’ve read on it.
This week’s topic: Motivation.
📖
The story of David Goggins is something out of a Hollywood movie.
He went from being depressed, overweight, and working as a bug exterminator to losing 100 pounds in 3 months and joining the elite military group of Navy SEALs.
After finishing his military duties, he became an ultra-endurance athlete. He broke the world record for pull-ups, ran dozens of 100+ mile races, and biked several 200+ mile races.
After reading this book you’ll feel like you can run through a brick wall.
📖
Jocko is one of the most disciplined men on the planet.
He spent 20 years in the military as a Navy SEAL and still wakes up at 4:45 am every day to work out (see proof on his IG page).
His book is a straightforward and no-nonsense approach to self-improvement. In it, he shares strategies and tactics for conquering weakness, procrastination, fear, and more.
If you’re looking for a short book to start walking a new path in life, grab a copy and get after it.
📖
Unlike the first two books above, this book uses science and stats to motivate you to become a better version of yourself.
It’s written by a professor who dives into research showing that many modern problems are caused by being too comfortable in life.
He then shares data on how embracing discomfort and pushing yourself is great for your mental and physical health.
If you’re looking for a book that’s a good mix of storytelling and deep research, this book is for you.

💎 Weekly Gem:
Product: Drink LMNT
I started taking LMNT after listening to Dr. Huberman’s podcast on using salt to optimize your mental and physical performance, and it’s been a game-changer for me.
It’s helped clear my brain fog and reduced muscle cramps while working out.
The best part? It tastes delicious and doesn’t have any sugar or artificial ingredients like most hydration drinks.
